Cucumber fishing in Lukhovitsy, located in the floodplain of the Oka River and characterized by unique microclimatic conditions, appeared back in 1930. Zelentsy grown here is always very hard, with characteristic pimples, crunch when squeezed, and their length is more than 6-7 cm.

History of Lukhovitsky cucumbers

Of course, in the middle of the last century, cucumbers were called Lukhovitsky only due to the name of the growing area. Most commonly used varieties such as "Murom" and "Vyaznikovsky". In 1970, these varieties were supplemented by varieties "Graceful", "Libella" and Mirinda.

Then two parthenocarpic Dutch hybrids with the names "Adam" and Solinas which were very successfully grown in Lukhovitsy for quite a long time.

Lukhovitsky cucumbers: growing

Advantages and disadvantages

Cucumber "Lukhovitsky-f1" is intended for cultivation in protected ground and on ridges of open ground with the use of temporary film shelters. FROMthe ort has a fairly large number of advantages and is practically devoid of flaws, which makes it popular with many gardeners:

  • hybrid parthenocarpic female type of pollination;
  • early crop formation;
  • juicy and delicious pulp with a characteristic crunch;
  • the absence of voids inside the green;
  • devoid of bitterness at the genetic level;
  • high commercial quality;
  • the possibility of universal use and transportation of the crop;
  • suitable for long-term storage.

The hybrid form is very resistant to most diseases, forms a high yield, which, subject to agricultural technology, reaches 9.7-10.5 kg / sq. m or about 6.5-8.5 kg from each bush.

Growing technology

It is possible to grow cucumbers of the Lukhovitsky-f1 variety very successfully both in open ground with short-term film shelter and in sheltered. A very good result is achieved when sowing seed in late April in order to grow seedlings and get an earlier crop.

Transplanted and hardened cucumber seedlings to a permanent place in the ground should be in the phase of 3-4 leaves. In central Russia, seedlings are planted starting in the second decade of May or in early June, with the establishment of the optimal temperature regime of air and soil. Seeds are sown on ridges of open ground in the last decade of May. When planting, you should adhere to the distance scheme between plants 50x50 cm.

Ridges should be located in a protected from the wind and heated area. The soil for cucumber planting should have friability and good humidity. Organics and humus are recommended to be applied directly to the planting holes.

The main irrigation is carried out at the stage of active vegetation of cucumbers and fruit formation. For irrigation, warm water is used. In order to maintain optimal moisture indicators, it is recommended to mulch ridges, and mullein solution is used for top dressing. Cucumbers of this variety are favorably distinguished by a very early and friendly crop formation, which requires regular gathering of greenery.

Reviews of gardeners

The variety "Lukhovitsky-f1" is perfectly adapted for cultivation in personal subsidiary plots and needs the use of film shelters. The reviews characterize Lukhovitsky-f1 cucumbers as being very resistant to defeat by cladosporiosis and powdery mildew and tolerant to downy mildew, or peronosporosis.

In the Lukhovitsky district of the Moscow Region, the first cucumbers ripen in May. Harvested is well stored and can be transported over long distances. Zelentsy retains high palatability when canned, tastes great when used in salads.

How to plant cucumbers

Experienced farmers and breeders of the Lukhovitsky district are already ready to develop several new varieties of cucumbers, which will be called "Lukhovitsky cucumber."
